Your Path to Legal Driving in the NT – Start with Confidence

If you’re planning to drive a car legally in the Northern Territory and either hold an overseas licence or are applying for your first Australian one, you’ll likely need to pass the Class C Driving Test. This test applies to all standard passenger vehicles and is a vital step toward gaining your full driving licence. At Art of Driving School Northern Territory, we specialise in helping learners and overseas drivers prepare for the Class C test with confidence.

The Class C driving licence allows you to drive:

  • Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of up to 4.5 tonnes

  • Passenger cars, small vans, and utes
  • Vehicles that can carry up to 12 adults including the driver

Theory Test

  • Covers NT road rules, traffic signs, and safe driving practices

  • Multiple-choice format conducted at a Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR)

  • You must score at least 26 out of 30 to pass
  • Available in multiple languages for non-English speakers

Our instructors offer theory coaching to help you understand complex rules, signs, and safety concepts. We simplify the material, provide mock tests, and give feedback so you’re ready before sitting the official exam.

Practical Driving Test

Conducted by an authorised examiner, the practical test assesses your ability to safely operate a vehicle and apply road rules in real-world situations.
